Lk 9,18-22

18 One day Jesus was in a solitary place praying. The disciples were with him and he asked them this question: "The crowds, who do they say I am?" 19 They answered: "John the Baptist; others say Elijah; others one of the ancient prophets who has risen ». 20 Then he asked them, "But who do you say that I am?" Peter replied: "The Christ of God".

21 He strictly ordered them not to report it to anyone.

22 "The Son of Man - he said - must suffer much, be rejected by the elders, by the chief priests and by the scribes, be killed and rise again on the third day".

Who do you say I am?

Why does Jesus question the disciples about something they certainly know? Jesus wants to show the disciples their thoughts, to themselves. Everyone reported what the people of Jesus thought, but only Peter answers in the name of all, helped by the grace of the Holy Spirit. One realizes in fact the intervention of God, from the fact that Peter is directed in answering: "You are the Christ of God". Only after this answer does Jesus reveal God's plan and the fact that they must guard him jealously, because they will be directly involved in it.

If Jesus asked us this question today "and who do you say I am", what answer would you get? An answer to catechism, or theology, or heretics, as the Neoarans, who consider only the humanity of Jesus.

For Jesus, not only must the answer be correct, but it must be full of faith. Jesus feels the faith that we have and to the answer adds a further revelation, as he did with Peter and the disciples present on that day.

Why are many men, especially those of the Church, blinded today and serving the world more than God? "For it is given to you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given. Thus to him who has been given and will be in abundance; and to him who does not have also what he has will be taken away (Mt 13:11 -12). Who knows Christ if not who is with him?

If you, shepherd stink of sheep, certainly do not smell of Christ. Certainly you do not know Christ and if you plan to teach others you are only deceiving them.

Today the main problem of the Church is the faith of the pastors, to which must be added the desecration of the ministry because of sexual and homosexual scandals. It is very sad to see that with more you go up to find it with more you can not find it. Is it not the time of the anti-Christ? Good day

24th week of ordinary time

Lk 7,1-10

1 When he had finished addressing all his words to the people listening, Jesus entered Capernaum. 2 A centurion's servant was sick and was about to die. The centurion had it very dear. 3 Therefore, when he heard of Jesus, he sent some of the Jewish elders to beg him to come and save his servant. 4 When they came to Jesus, they implored him insistently: "He deserves that you grant him what he asks - they said -, 5 because he loves our people and he built us the synagogue". 6 Jesus walked with them. He was not far from the house, when the centurion sent some friends to tell him: "Lord, do not disturb yourself! I am not worthy of you entering under my roof; 7 for this I myself did not consider myself worthy to come to you; but give a word and my servant will be healed. 8 In fact, I too am in the condition of a subordinate and I have soldiers under me and I say to one: "Go!", And he goes; and to another: "Come!", and he comes; and to my servant: "Do this!", and he does it. " 9 On hearing this, Jesus admired him and, turning to the crowd that followed him, said: "I tell you that not even in Israel have I found such great faith!" 10 And when they returned home, they found the servant healed.

The faith of the centurion of Capernaum

Jesus is walking on the roads of Palestine not only to heal the suffering members of his people, but to seek faith, through which he can actually act. In fact, when he went to Nazareth, in his homeland, he could not operate as he would have liked, for their lack of faith and for their hostility (see Mt 13:58). Thus in Capernaum he finds faith where he is not expected to be and does not find it where he is expected to be. Capernaum will be condemned by Christ with a harsh word, (see Lk 10,13-15), while the pagan centurion who resides there will see his faith rewarded with the healing of his servant.

Faith is made up of doctrines and attitudes that express faith itself, but all this refers not only to God but to the One who reveals him our Lord Jesus Christ. Thus the centurion, with his attitude and his word, shows that he has more faith in Jesus than all the disciples who are always following him. But where did the centurion draw such a great faith? The centurion, having built the synagogue of Capernaum, will certainly have also heard the Word of God which is always proclaimed on the Sabbath, and with that Word he understood who Jesus was. But there was also the Holy Spirit who was able to enter the heart of a man who had opened the doors to God, but who also needed to meet him. Thus Jesus entering Capernaum allowed the encounter between the centurion's faith and those who could gather and transform it into grace, precisely in the healing of his servant.

Was it like this? Mine is only a hypothesis, but if I look at the reality that surrounds us, today I know that in the people of God there is no faith, which would allow God to heal us of so many evils, especially lacking in the guides of the Catholic people, in many of them it is very superficial in the way of treating the person of Jesus above all in the Holy Eucharist, and this is then reflected on the individual faithful, because the faithful learn from the altar how to deal with the Christ.

Certainly there are some laudable exceptions, but in the most it misses that attitude of faith that instead is present in the centurion, so much admired by Jesus.

When we stop surprising Jesus for our disbelief. When is the wonder of Christ for our faith? Do we have to wait until the universal judgment comes? Let's get busy because a severe judgment looms over us. Good day.
