Eleventh week of ordinary time

Mt 6, 1-6.16-18

1 Be careful not to practice your righteousness before men to be admired by them, otherwise there is no reward for you with your Father in heaven. Anyway, when you give alms, do not play the trumpet in front of you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, to be praised by the people. In truth I tell you: they have already received their reward. 3Instead, while you give alms, do not know what your right hand is doing to your left, 4because your alms remain in secret; and your Father, who sees in secret, will reward you.

5 And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites who, in the synagogues and in the corners of the squares, like to pray standing upright, to be seen by the people. In truth I tell you: they have already received their reward. 6 Instead, when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is in secret; and your Father, who sees in secret, will reward you.

16And when you fast, do not become melancholy like the hypocrites, who take on a defeated air to show others that they fast. Truly I say to you, they have already received their reward.17 But when you fast, proforma the head and face your face, 18because the people do not see that you are fasting, but only your Father, who is in secret; and your Father, who sees in secret, will reward you.

Comment by Tommaso Nuovo

The Father, who sees in secret, will reward you.

God the Father, what attitude do you like most from those who pray to him? God, according to the words and attitudes of Jesus likes hiding, the inner prayer made first with the heart, in the soul and then with the senses. Man always flaunts to put himself before everything and everyone, man loves notoriety, being considered someone, even in the spiritual field. But all this is worth nothing before God, because he listens to everyone's prayer, but only answers that which reaches the heart of God. To reach the heart of God we must be small, insignificant, despised, count nothing in the eyes of men . It is up to us to recognize our misery and at the same time the greatness of God.

To cultivate prayer in an interior way does not mean escaping from the public liturgies of the Holy Mass, but participating in it with recollection, without noise, without showing off, putting the meeting with Christ at the center. Today this is a huge problem since many times our churches, before the beginning of Mass, seem more the market place than a place of meditation and preparation of the soul to meet God: we do not pray, we do not on your knees, you chat and throw your eyes left and right, you do not confess, and so you go to receive the Holy Eucharist with sin, so sacrilegious

But because it has slipped so low. If we come to understand the causes, perhaps the remedy will be found. The problem in part lies in the Vatican's second liturgical reform, which allowed the transformation of Holy Mass into the celebration of God's people, with the inclusion of songs, words, actions and modes of celebration more aimed at encouraging the participation of the people, rather than the exaltation of the action of Christ. Over time, therefore, the centrality of Jesus Christ, especially the perception of the real presence of Jesus in the most holy Eucharist, has also failed.

The protagonism of the celebrating priests has replaced the climate of recollection that was preparing for the encounter with Christ. The priests themselves set aside the care of their spiritual life to give themselves with all their energies to pastoral life, with the results that today are under the eyes of all. However, the problem lies above all in the example given by the priest to the people.

Many priests do not care to have a remote preparation for Holy Mass (being in church at least thirty minutes before the beginning) a constant recollection on their soul where Christ lives, they do not care to mortify the senses, the eyes, the mouth before during and after Holy Mass and the devil deceives her by offering to them on a silver plate women and men sent to the church by the devil to seduce and distract the priest. Many priests do not let the liturgical prayer spring forth from the soul, it is only a movement of the air and without the Spirit immediately goes off in the ears in the minds and hearts of the faithful. Many priests do not kneel, they do not stay in church more than strictly necessary time and much more.

If the cause is therefore often the priest, the remedy is still in him. The priest must know that with his person he educates more than with his word. If he recovers a more sacred and less worldly dimension of his person and his behavior, he helps the faithful to do the same. Above all he must learn in the church to mortify the senses and work on the inner life, to place the best of himself within himself and make it available to the faithful through the action of the Holy Spirit. The Father sees in secret and scrutinizes the souls of the consecrated first. Good day.

10th week of ordinary time

Mt 5, 33-35

33 You have also heard that it was said to the ancients: "You shall not swear falsely, but you will fulfill your oaths to the Lord." 34 But I say unto you, swear not at all, neither by heaven, because it is the throne of God, 35 neither by the earth, because it is the stool of his feet, nor by Jerusalem, because it is the city of the great king. swear not even for your head, because you do not have the power to make a single hair white or black. 37 But let your speech be: "Yes, yes", "No, no"; the most comes from the Maligno.

Comment by Tommaso Nuovo

Your talk is yes, yes, no, no. The most comes from the evil one

Who can guarantee the word that one gives, concerning the truth of a fact of a person of a saying and / or a promise. We must not call God as a guarantee. God can not be the guarantor of our words and our actions, while we must be guarantors and witnesses to the truth of God and his word, especially with our conduct of life. There is indeed the very real risk that concerning God with the mouth we say one thing and then with the life we deny it, indeed we condemn it.

This is especially true of consecrated persons, especially priests. Many of them have high speech and eloquence, but they do not have an equal tenor of high and holy life. In fact, St. Anthony of Padua used to say: "so we speak to others of humility, poverty, patience and obedience, when we show them present in ourselves." The sermon is effective, has its own eloquence, when the works speak. I pray, I stop the words, speak the works.Unfortunately we are rich in words and empty of works, and so we are cursed by the Lord, because he cursed the fig tree, in which he did not find fruit, but only leaves.

With the word we can easily fool. This is why the Lord is very clear: "... it is instead your speech:" Yes, yes "," No, no ", the more comes from the Evil One.

The most comes from the evil one. This must also make the Church that uses the word reflect so much to communicate to the people of today the truths that are the ways to heaven. What corresponds to the more that goes from the evil one? It corresponds to the claim to be superior to the authority of the Holy Scripture, which was given by God to be heard and lived and not to be manipulated at will. He who has ears hears.
