Fourth Week of Lent

Jn 30 5,17-30

17 But Jesus said to them, "My Father also acts now and I act." 18 Therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he not only broke the Sabbath, but said also that God was his Father, making himself equal with God.
19 Jesus spoke again and said to them, "Truly, truly, I say to you that the Son himself can not do anything except what he sees the Father doing; whatever the Father does, the Son also does likewise. 20 The Father loves the Son and shows him everything he does, and he will show him greater works than these, because you will be meravigliati.21 as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, so also the Son gives life to who he wants. 22 The Father judges no one, but has given all judgment to the Son, 23 that all may honor the Son just as they honor the Father. Whoever does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent him.
24 Verily, verily, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me, has eternal life and not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life. 25 Verily, verily, I say unto you, the hour is coming - and it is this - when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God and those who hear will vivranno.26 as the Father has life in itself himself, so he has granted also to the Son to have life in himself, 27 and has given him authority to execute judgment, because he is Son of man. 28 Do not be surprised at this: the hour is coming when all who are in the graves shall hear his voice 29 and come out, those who have done good to the resurrection of life and those who have done evil, to the resurrection of judgment. 30 From me, I can do nothing. I judge as I hear, and my judgment is just, because I seek not my own will but the will of him who sent me.

COMMENT of Tommaso Nuovo
Our relationship with the Father

Jesus was accused of being equal to God not so much for what he did, which was undeniable evidence, but the word he was saying, "My Father works even now, and I am acting" (Jn 5:17) .

This statement sounded like blasphemy in the ears of the Jews. They saw a man who called himself God, that the Son of God. They could not see rather the opposite: God made man, who takes man's mortal flesh and come to live and lived among us. Yet all the Old Testament journey has been a gradual approach of God to man, to fill that void of relationship, the step back that the man has done to the roots.

Jesus Christ in his whole life showed us his intimate and filial relationship with the Father. The revelation of his relationship with the Father accreditation was in sight of his person, of his word and of his action, but also ahead of us, because we learn to have the same attitude towards the Heavenly Father.

So those who believe in his words has eternal life, that is not only the fullness of life, but a stable relationship with the Father. In fact, Jesus says, "Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life" (Jn 5 , 24). Hearing the voice of the Son means to pass from death to life: change from a natural life destined to end, a supernatural life destined to no end. Jesus speaks of is a resurrection in faith, that is, the change to believe in Jesus Christ and in the resurrection in the flesh, the last act of God for the man who will be fulfilled in the judgment on his life.

The resurrection of faith takes place in the conversion to God, to a relationship with Him more and more children in the image of the relationship that exists between the Father and His only begotten Son Jesus Christ. And 'here that we want to lead Jesus to an intimacy with God, to see what takes care of us and what we have to deal with him, talking and acting in communion with Him. Today our relationship with God is in crisis because it is a crisis for our being in the image of the Son of our living with Jesus and for Jesus. at a more general level is in crisis even the paternal model of the relationship, it suffers much the role of the Father many times humiliated, despised, blamed and abandoned in favor a breast model in relations. The father is not even considered necessary in the generation of children.

Jesus Christ came to reveal that God is Father and his tenderness towards his children. For our part we must not treat God as a stranger, but show him affection and filial obedience, rather than an earthly father. Our way of being in relationship with God determines the way we relate to each other. Good day.

Fourth Week of Lent

Gv 5, 1-3a.5-16

1 After these things recurred a feast of the Jews, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem. 2 In Jerusalem, at the sheep gate, there is a pool, called in Hebrew Bethesda, with five porches, 3 In these lay a great number of invalids, blind, lame, paralyzed. [4] 5 He was there a man who was sick for thirty-eight years. 6 Jesus saw him lying, and knowing that it was so long ago, said, "Do you want to get well?". 7 The sick man answered, "Sir, I have no one to put me into the pool when the water is stirred. While I am coming, another steps down before me "8 Jesus said to him," Rise, pick up your mat and walk "9a And immediately the man was healed: picked up his mat and began to walk
9b That day, however, was a sabato.10Dissero So the Jews to the man who had been healed: "It's Saturday and you are not allowed to carry your mat." 11 But he answered them, "He who made me well told me, 'Take up your mat and walk.'" 12 Then they asked him, "Who is the man who said to you, 'Take and walk'?". 13 But he who had been healed did not know who it was; Jesus had turned away because there was crowd in that place. 14 Afterward Jesus found him in the temple and said, "Behold, you are well! Do not sin anymore, because it does not happen to you something worse "15 The man went away and told the Jews that Jesus had healed him. 16 For this cause the Jews persecuted Jesus, because he did this on the Sabbath.

COMMENT of Tommaso Nuovo
Jesus, in the paralytic, heals my spiritual paralysis.

The Gospel according to St. John on this page of the healing of a paralytic at the pool of Bethesda, gives us what we need for our spiritual healing.

Those people, which was located under the arcades of the pool andare waiting for the water agitation may be the image of those who already have been baptized, are paralyzed, awaiting the miracle of their conversion, they do not have the strength to immerse themselvesin the water of the living person of Jesus.

Jesus saves. That does not make a speech, it is aimed at a just, and addressing him come to us all, we have just heard the Gospel. So he says to me, talking to the man paralyzed for thirty-eight years: "Do you want to heal"? Because there may be the case that one does not think of being paralyzed and therefore does not want to heal, or says: "I like to be so, on Barela of my sins. Jesus turns to the paralytic, to show me what is the true situation in my spirit, not paralyzed by himself for 38 years but a lifetime.

Really the paralytic had no one to help him to descend into the pool when the water is stirred. Instead we have the angelic hosts in our service, all the saints, the Holy Mother of God, and if not enough is the same Lord Jesus Christ, who as then walk under the five porches of the earth, to bring us to the saving waters that spring from his pierced side of Christ's Body, the Holy Church.

Our paralysis is more spiritual than physical, and Jesus tells us personally: "You want to get well?" What can I say? If I want to heal I must cry out, "I do." So you believe in the Word that Jesus says to you, 'Take up your mat and walk. Where should I go? Walk behind Jesus, just becoming his disciple can heal and thus serve and to glorify him to the world.

And if someone tells you: "What do you do?". "Why follow your mat with Jesus?" You shall say to him:
"Jesus, through His Word saved me. Now I lift my stretcher, the weight of my sins, which paralyzed me, because all see and know who Jesus Christ is I do not want to be on my stretcher, lying in my sins. Jesus I'll always remember. in fact I meet him always when I go into the temple, to church and says: Here you are well, sin no more, because it does not happen to you something worse.
Good day.

Fourth Sunday of Lent

Jn 9, 1-41

1 Turning, he saw a man blind from birth 2 and his disciples asked him, "Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?". 3 Jesus answered, "Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents, but it is because in him the works of God should be made manifest. 4 is necessary that we perform the works of Him who sent me while it is day; Night is coming, when no one can agire.5 As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world. " 6 Having said this, he spat on the ground, made some mud with the saliva, and smeared the clay on the eyes of the blind 7 and said, " 'Go wash in the Pool of Siloam" - which means Sent. He went and washed, and came seeing.

8 Then the neighbors and those who had seen him before, because he was a beggar, said: "It is not he the one who used to sit and beg?".9 Some said, "It's him"; others said, "No, but it's one that looks like him." And he said, "I am." 10 Then they asked him, "How were your eyes opened?". 11 He replied, "The man called Jesus made clay and anointed my eyes and he said: 'Go' to Siloam and wash. ' I went, I washed, and I received sight. " 12 They said to him: "Where is he?".He replied: "I do not know."

13 They led the Pharisees the man who had been blind: 14 was a Saturday, the day when Jesus made the mud and opened his occhi.15 again the Pharisees also asked him again how he had received his sight. And he said to them, "He put mud on my eyes, I washed, and I see." 16 Then some of the Pharisees said, "This man is not from God, why not keep the Sabbath." Others said, "How can a sinner do such signs?". And there was a division among them. 17 So they said to the blind man again: "You, what do you say about him, since he opened your eyes?". He replied: "He is a prophet."

18 But the Jews did not believe concerning him that he had been blind and had received his sight, until they called the parents of him that had received his sight. 19 They asked them, "Is this your son, who you say was born blind? How does he now see? ". 20 The parents answered him: "We know that this is our son and that he was born blind; 21 but how he now sees we do not know, and who opened his eyes, we do not know. Ask him: he is of age, let him speak for himself. " 22 These words spake his parents, because they feared the Jews; for the Jews they had already agreed that if anyone acknowledged him as the Christ, he would be expelled from the synagogue. 23 Therefore his parents said, "He is of age: ask him."

24 So they called the man who had been blind and said to him: "From 'Glory to God! We know that this man is a sinner. " 25 He replied, "Whether he is a sinner, I do not know. One thing I know: I was blind, now I see "26 They said to him:" What did he do to you? As you opened your eyes? ". 27 He answered them, "I've already said, and have not listened; because you want to hear it again? You want to become his disciples, too? ". 28 The insulted and said, "His disciple are you! We are disciples of Moses! 29 We know that God spoke to Moses; but we do not know where he is. " 30 The man answered, "This very surprising: that you do not know where he is, and yet he opened my occhi.31Sappiamo that God does not listen to sinners, but if one honors God and does His will, He listen. 32 From time immemorial, it was never heard that anyone opened the eyes of one born blind. 33 If this man were not from God, he could not do anything. " 34 They answered him, "You were born totally in sin, and do you teach us?". And they cast him out.

35 Jesus heard that they had cast him out; When he found him, he said, "Do you believe in the Son of Man?". 36 He answered, "Who is he, Lord, that I may believe in him?". 37 Jesus said to him: "Have you seen him: it is he who he speaks with you." 38 And he said: "I believe, Lord." And he worshiped him.
39 Jesus said: "It is for judgment that I have come into this world, that those who do not see, see and those who see may become blind."

40 Some of the Pharisees who were with him heard this and said, "Are we also blind?". 41 Jesus answered them, "If you were blind, you would have no sin; but since you say, 'We see,' your guilt remains. "

COMMENT of Tommaso Nuovo
The blind and our conversion to Christ

In this long Gospel is a word which Jesus says in response is a question of the disciples: "Rabbi, who sinned he or his parents that he was born blind?".According to the mentality of that time who was hit in his person from birth was a sin for someone of his family. Jesus answers clearly: neither he nor his parents sinned. Jesus reveals that his blindness condition is due to the fact that the works of God. For this healing provokes in him might be revealed a strong debate between the Pharisees about the identity of Jesus Christ, regarding its origin and its action. In the end who was healed, the blind see it and believe in who saved him. But those who saw it, or thought they saw fall in total blindness in relation to Jesus.

This is also the path of faith of every believer: from blindness to light: the blindness of sin and death in the light of God's grace and the divine life. The transition from blindness to light we do it with the eyes of our soul and our heart, when we allow Jesus put upon them the mire of our sin, that we may see and recognize the miserable situation and we wash in the pool of 'Envoy, ie in the Gospel of Christ, "the messenger" of the Father. "

The most important thing we can reach in Lent is just seeing our state of blindness, our sins and wash them in the mercy of Christ in the sacrament of confession, pouring on our soul the holy water of baptism, this is the first conversion .

And when a man shows Christ's work, which took him from the darkness of sin and death in the light of faith and grace, the world receives a light that I may see the works of God. In this sense then Christ will say: "you are the light of the world." Being transformed into "light" is the second conversion.

If one converts and change lives is not immediately understood, even as the healed blind man was kicked out of the synagogue, so even those who change lives is misjudged because prays more, remains kneeling in church, do not miss a Mass, he does not attend plus the bar, friends, speak only of Jesus Christ, the Virgin Mary and the saints, does not tolerate swearing, profanity, obscenity, he loves the saints and the Church, he helps the poor and is full of mercy, the holy Spirit and truth. Its light, it is Christ, will be revealed and will bring many who are in darkness, the light of faith.

If we think that we do not need to convert us, because we have already given enough to the Lord, we have not done it he gave nothing. At our conversion we are missing undoubtedly something. There is nothing worse for a Christian of mediocrity, of political correctness. We have yet to be converted. It is missing a lot, many times only lacks the courage to change their lives, to open wide the doors to Christ. That courage, that strength of change we must not tire of asking.Good day.

Third Week of Lent

Mt 5,17-19

17 Think not that I am come to destroy the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to give full compimento.18 Verily I say unto you, until you have passed the heavens and the earth, it will one jot or one dash of the Law, until all is done. 19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments and teaches others to do so will be called least in the kingdom of heaven. Who does them and teaches them shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

COMMENT of Tommaso Nuovo
Jesus Christ the final detector

Jesus did not appear on the world scene filled with a '' reformer ', as one who wants to give a different shape to the law, as many have tried to do in his name to date, but as the definitive revelation of God and his will. That is more than Jesus Christ can not go, besides Jesus Christ is not only the denial of Jesus Christ.

We can not even bend Jesus Christ to human interpretations those politically correct, because you put Jesus in the ridiculous and minimizes his Word. Such as the fact that Jesus was eating with sinners and sinners, so many priests is all well and good being often for lunch and dinner with friends, family and chichessia, because he did also Jesus. Or transform churches in soup kitchens the poor or dormitories.

Jesus was surrounded by women who maintained it, so too the priest must have a good number of women at his disposal. Then off it slips away, for example, with the appearance of Jesus to Mary Magdalene, Jesus preferred women to men, which is why he appeared to Mary Magdalene. This brings us to let Jesus say things I never said, done and never meant to say or do.

Today the church looks more like a reality that has to go to meet man to man rather than teach the will of God and how to be saved from eternal damnation.

If the Church does not tell you L.G.T. threatened hell, that cohabitation and divorce are the doors of adultery, that Jesus Christ is the only savior of the world and that no religion outside of Catholic Christianity saves, goes against Jesus Christ.

Jesus told him, it will be great in heaven, who will keep his commandments and have taught others to do the same.
Good day.

Third Week of Lent
Mt 18.21 to 35

21 Then Peter came and said to him, "Lord, if my brother sins sins against me, how often must I forgive him? Up to seven times? ". 22 And Jesus answered him, "I tell you, not seven times, but seventy times seven.
23 Therefore, the kingdom of heaven is like a king who wanted to settle accounts with his servi.24 He had begun to settle accounts, when they brought him a man who owed him ten thousand talents. 25 Since he was not able to pay, his lord commanded him to be sold, with his wife, his children and all that he had, and so welding your debito.26 Then the servant, prostrate on the ground, pleading with him, saying: 'Have patience with and I will pay you everything. ' 27 The master of that servant was moved with compassion, and loosed him, and forgave him the debt.
28 Just out, that slave found one of his companions who owed him a hundred denarii. She took him by the neck and choked him, saying, "Return what you have." 29 His companion, prostrate on the ground, and prayed him, saying, 'Be patient with me and I will pay you. " 30 But he would not, he had him thrown into prison, till he should pay the debt.
31 Given what happened, his companions were very sorry and came and told unto their lord all that was done. 32 Then his lord summoned him and said to him: 'You wicked servant, I forgave you all that debt you have because you begged me. 33 Do not you have had mercy on your fellow servant, as I had mercy on you? '. 34 Disgusted, the master handed him over to the torturers until he should pay all his debt.35 So also my heavenly Father will do to you if not you forgive the heart, each to his own brother. "

COMMENT of Tommaso Nuovo
Forgiveness to receive and give

Because Jesus keeps us so much to lose? Enough to make a condition for entering into the grace of God? Certainly man has always tried to take revenge and not to forgive. Man has always tried to impose its law by force, especially towards the most vulnerable and disadvantaged. God has forbidden revenge from the beginning of human history, but did not abolish the consequences of the evil done, which remain and are the cause of the spread of sin, but they are also an opportunity to show to men of all time his mercy. The final word on the history of man, before the end of the same story, is expressed in forgiveness.

Man can not possibly repay the evil it does to God, brothers and even himself. In front of God, even a small fault has great weight, because it is directly or indirectly addressed to him because .here in the parable of the wicked servant Jesus puts the measure of a huge debt: ten thousand talents. This huge debt can not be healed, and according to the custom of the time the debtor to repay the debt was sold with all his family and all his possessions. What on earth do the master's own interest to collect all costs such a high debt? God while being lord of all does not use human methods to assert its right and so uses the way of forgiveness. God forgives not only because man can not pay off the debt, but also because it is good and man learn from him how to deal with the debts he has with his neighbor.

Among men some things are forgivable, but others as death procured to people slander, defamation, violence and robberies are hardly forgivable. Only by the grace of God and in view of Him that man comes to forgive even the unforgivable.

There are alternatives God forgives because the other option is to pay for all the harm done to the man, but who can settle debts with God. God forgives because it is his own heart, this is his medicine.

The medicine of forgiveness did not work with the wicked servant, not because it does not work, but that the wicked servant thought that the master could afford to condonargli the debt, instead he could not afford it. He did not think that if the owner had not condoned the debt for him would end. Forgiveness is not granted to a fellow reason for his conviction. The Lord warns us in time, forgiveness is not a luxury for the Christian, but a necessity. Jesus gives us the strength to do so.
Good day.

Solemnity of St. Joseph, husband of the Blessed Virgin Mary
Mt 1,16.18-21.24

16 And Jacob begat Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus who is called Christ.
18 Thus was begotten Jesus Christ: His mother Mary was betrothed to Joseph, before they came together she was found with child through the Holy Spirit. 19 Her husband Joseph, being a just man and did not want to accuse her publicly, decided to divorce her secretly. 20 But while he was considering these things, behold, an angel appeared to him in a dream the Lord and said, "Joseph son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife. In fact the child who is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit; 21 She will bear a son and you shall call his name Jesus: for he shall save his people from their sins. "
24 When he awoke from sleep, Joseph did as the angel of the Lord and took unto him his wife;

COMMENT of Tommaso Nuovo
The silence of St. Joseph

The silence of Joseph is the most striking aspect of this just man, to whom God has entrusted to him his treasures: her Son Jesus and His Mother Mary. It is not clear if the choice of silence is wanted by the evangelists, to emphasize his obedience to God, or if he actually has never said anything in the presence of Jesus and Mary. Certainly he talked with them, but mostly listened and loved what God had given him. He was the guardian of the child Jesus and Mary, therefore guardian of the Head of the Church and therefore also of the Body. That's why he is the universal patron of the Church and therefore of us all. Many saints like St. Francis, Santa Teresa d 'Avila had a strong devotion to this saint, as close to Jesus after the Virgin Mary. His life did not last long on the earth. The Lord Jesus raised to heaven before the start of his public life, to continue to offer him in heaven that intimacy that he had received as a gift on earth.Someone suggested that it was taken up into heaven, body and soul. Undoubtedly he lives in heaven and for us it is paternity model of faith for all men on earth. Good day.

Second Week of Lent

Lk 15 1-3.11-32

1 drawing near to him all the publicans and sinners to hear him. 2 And the Pharisees and scribes murmured, saying, "This man welcomes sinners and eats with them" 3 And he told them this parable:

11 And he said: "A man had two sons. 12 The younger of them said to his father: "Father, give me the share of property that falls to me. ' And he divided unto them his substance. 13 A few days later, the younger son gathered all his belongings and set off for a distant country where he squandered his inheritance on a life of dissipation. 14 When he had spent everything, there came a severe famine in that country, and he began to be in want. 15 Then went to stand at the service of one of the citizens of that country, who sent him into his fields to feed swine. 16 He would gladly have fed on the pods that were fed the pigs; but no one gave him anything. 17 Then came to himself and said, "How many hired servants of my father's have bread enough and I perish with hunger! 18 I will arise and go to my father and say: Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you; 19 am no longer worthy to be called your son. Treat me like one of your hired servants. " 20 He got up and returned to his father.

When he was still far off, his father saw him and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck and kissed him. 21 The son said, "Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you; They no longer deserve to be called your son. ' 22 But the father said to his servants, 'Quick! Bring the best robe and put it on him; put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet. 23 Take the fattened calf and kill it, and let's party, 24 for this my son was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found. ' And they began to celebrate.

25 Now his elder son was in the field. On the way back, as he neared the house, he heard music and dancing; 26 called one of the servants and asked what this might mean. 27 he said to him: 'Your brother has returned and your father has killed the fattened calf because he has him back safe and sound. " 28 He became angry, and refused to go. His father came out and pleaded with him. 29 But he answered his father, 'Behold, I served you for many years and I never disobeyed your command, and you have never given me a young goat to celebrate with my friends. 30 But when this son of yours came back, who has devoured your property with prostitutes, for him you slaughter the fattened calf. ' 31 He said to him: "Son, thou art ever with me, and all that is mine is yours; 32 But he had to celebrate and be glad, for this your brother was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found. ' "

The rediscovery of the Good Father

How to read and meditate on the parable of the good father or the prodigal son, in view of our spiritual experience? There are many interpretations as the context in which Jesus tells the parable, that is, the reception of sinners, or the mentality of the time for which the sinner had no possibility of redemption; the person of the father; the personalities of the two children; The desire for autonomy, freedom and libertinism of the minor child; the eldest son of hypocrisy.

But there are two points that may be useful for our spiritual journey: the first is the moment when, having regard to its external situation of serious hardship, the prodigal son comes to himself. The other point is instead the real knowledge of the Father.

Return into ourselves is meant for the son rediscover his identity as a son, who is willing to give up in order to be received into the house of his father. Then connect his story of independence and escape from his father's house to a history of sin against God and his father.
These keys also serve to our spiritual lives, in this time of Lent, which is open to a true awareness of our inner state.

The other key is the way it is presented God. He is a Father who leaves full freedom, does not judge, does not punish, always in the heart of her son who has turned away from him. You can contemplate the way that waits, the way he greets, the joy of the feast. A Father who is the truest image that Jesus gave us to God the Father.

Even for us there is the need for a moral and spiritual return to God and to convert our image of God, experiencing His mercy and His love. How does the story of a man, when it comes to himself repudiates sin, discovers the true face of God and returns to a family relationship with Heavenly Father. This is possible for all, there is a return as possible, there is a house, there is a father and brothers who are waiting for us, there's a party, that eternal, ready for us. The parable dl good Father can not be accomplished if not accomplished for each of us. Good day.

Second week of Lent

M
t 23,1-12

1 Then Jesus said to the crowds and to his disciples, 2 saying, "the chair of Moses the scribes and the Pharisees are seated. 3 practice and observe whatever they tell you, but you do not act according to their works, for they say and do not. 4 They tie up heavy burdens hard to carry and lay them on men's shoulders, but they will not move them with a finger. 5 But all their works they do for to be seen by the people: broader headbands and longer tassels, 6 take pleasure of the places of honor at feasts, the chief seats in the synagogues, 7 greetings in the marketplaces, and to be called 'Rabbi' by people.
8 But be not ye called 'Rabbi'; for One is your Master and you are all brothers. 9 And do not "father" calls one of you on the earth: for one is your Father, the heavenly.
0 And do not be called "guides", for one is your guide, the Christ. 11 Who among you is greater, shall be your servant; 12 who exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted.

COMMENT of Tommaso Nuovo
On the chair of Moses sat ...

Those who act in the name of God must be humble, consistent and transparent and having in mind that it is not above the Word teaches.Climb on the chair of Moses is the temptation of man religion placed in places of power.

But it must not be of the popes, cardinals and bishops to undergo this temptation, just be priests of nuns or simple catechists or lay pastoral workers, who put themselves before God with their personality, their words and their actions. In this way it is likely to give shade to God, to be more important than God.

Others see us, but they do not see God. Jesus warns not to follow these examples, in which there is no distance between saying and doing. Jesus does not speak of some category of persons, although cites the scribes and the Pharisees, but to all of us. Before measuring the others we must measure our consistency. We can be scandalized of others, especially if placed in positions of power, but more must be scandalized us themselves.
Jesus teaches us not to be enchanted by certain people and their bombastic and cumbersome personality. There is only one Father, in whose hands we put ourselves. There is only one Master, from which to learn successfully, we have to believe, and hope to do. There is only one guide that can lead us on the difficult paths of life: the Christ. But the Lord Jesus uses also because men make it present and visible. These are the fathers, or masters and guides in the Spirit.

Every era has its spiritual fathers. Those of the past we know them by their writings and teachings and the sanctity of life. Those of today is not easy to meet. Not always someone's reputation or fame are sufficient criteria to recognize them. Today, more than ever, looks can be deceiving.

There is a way to recognize them with certainty, but no doubt what counts is faith that transmit, their being transparency of God, their love, their prayers and intercession that makes them authoritative representatives of God. Where to meet these "fathers." We must pray the Lord to make them recognize and meet, why not in life there is nothing more to meet a saint. Good day.

First week of Lent

Mt 5,43-48

43 You have heard that it was said, 'Love your neighbor and hate your enemy. 44 But I tell you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, 45 that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven; he makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on ingiusti.46 For if you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Do not even the publicans the same? 47 And if you greet your brethren only, what do ye more? Do not even the publicans so? 48 You, therefore, be perfect as your heavenly Father is perfect.

COMMENT of Tommaso Nuovo
The impossible for men is possible for God.

Be worthy sons of God and thus heirs, is to be like Heavenly Father, gather his will, to continue his plan of holiness and peace. When you find in life that we are made of sky, that we come from heaven, like fallen angels on earth, it changes the whole vision we have of ourselves and of reality, which becomes the place where God manifests himself, the kingdom of God, and not as the place where the man is imposed and it builds in its own image and likeness.

The discovery to be made in heaven begins with the belief that certain things, such as love our enemies, are possible, we can pray for those who persecute us.You can respond to evil with good. Even the evil that is within us because of sin, it can turn, can be won. My life can change and renew themselves so that I discover to be made of the sky. Of course I have to nurture this certainty with the things of heaven: the Virgin Mary, the saints, with the friendship with those who can bring me to Jesus, that make me understand where I can meet him. Nothing is impossible with God.

Those who aspire to what is impossible to men, that is, sanctify their lives, and delivery to the One to whom all things are possible, losing the property on itself, opens the way to the fulfillment of the Impossible in her life.

The saints work miracles, heal the sick, raised the dead, they have gifts like bilocation, levitation and many. Their secret lies in the welcome could not be in their life, that becomes possible in the measure of the gift of God. It certainly will not miss the cross, temptation, suffering, disease, sacrifice, persecution, poverty, derision and death. But for those who have believed in the impossible of God he will be given as prize. Already now we can see those who have achieved this award. Good day.

First week of Lent

Mt 5.20 to 26

20 I will indeed tell you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.
21 You have heard that it was said to your ancestors, You shall not kill; and whoever kills shall be liable to judgment. 22 But I say to you, whoever is angry with his brother will be liable to judgment. And whoever says to his brother: "Stupid", will be liable to the council; and whoever says, "Crazy," he will go to the fire of Genna.
23 Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar and there remember that your brother has something against you, 24 leave your gift there before the altar, go 'first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come to offer your gift.
25 Come to terms with your opponent while you're on the way with him, lest your accuser hand you over to the judge, and the judge to the officer, and thou be cast into prison. 26 Verily I say to you will never get out until you have paid the last penny!

COMMENT of Tommaso Nuovo
U-turn

Jesus asks me today to raise myself, to overcome the logic of selfishness, so that even in relationships with others I must have a self-interest, a useful, even emotional. What has in fact received the Lord Jesus by having loved the madness of humanity? Jesus gives me the precise indication, to bring love and respect to his brother and generate love and respect. What He does with us we ought to do it with others. If today I want to meet with Jesus, I have to start recognizing my closest brother.

How can I introduce myself to render worship to God, if I have not made before worship and not recognized in the brother next to me more? That worship is only a deception that God sees and disapproves, denying it the Spirit in which we can worship God.

If we do not want God Himself becomes our opponent, one who will judge us for what we did to Him, we must change our way of being and thinking centered on the ego and its satisfactions. In a word we must be converted. Then God will be that friend who will also accompany you on the road a lot of difficult times of the conversion. The U-turn is prohibited under the rules of the road, it is instead recommended the spiritual code of the Gospel. Good day

First week of Lent
Matthew 7: 7-12

7 Ask and you shall receive, seek and you will find, knock and it will be aperto.8 For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be aperto.9 of you, whom if his son ask bread, will give a stone ? 10 And if he asks for a fish, will give him a serpent? 11 If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!
12 Whatever you wish that men would do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the Law and the Prophets.

COMMENT of Tommaso Nuovo
Let us ask the Holy Spirit for everything

The question that arises is this: What should we ask of God, knowing that they can get for sure? So many things are useful for human life, but few are needed.God can give everything, but certainly before we needed to be. The thing we need most is his Holy Spirit. There is nothing more necessary for many reasons, and the main one is to know how to direct our lives towards good, real good.

If we ask the Holy Spirit, God will never deny. Ce the material things we can procure for themselves, but in cases of indigence and need God also deals with material things.

The Holy Spirit, but called and asked for the good of our souls, because every choice we make is always a risk of error and those who charge then mistakes or sins is the soul. The Holy Spirit invests his saints gifts, many other charisms and energy for our good and holy church, but asks that we live life in the Holy Spirit and turn away what it breaks down and it saddens me that sin.

The Holy Spirit takes care of our sanctification, accompanies the sight of God our prayers and inflames us with love for the Holy Trinity and work for us in all things pertaining to God the Father.
We ask and ask that the Holy Spirit is over all things on people who are close to us and far away, on the states, governments on the whole world and we will do our good and of many. We will experience the Spirit of God is love, that God himself is love. Of this love so desperately needs our humanity. Good day.

The week of Lent
Mt 25,31-46

31 When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his glorious throne. 32 Before him all the nations will be gathered. He will separate them one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats, 33 and he will place the sheep on his right and the goats on his left. 34 Then shall the King say unto them on his right, 'Come, blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world, 35 because I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, a stranger and you welcomed me, 36 naked and you clothed me, sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me. " 37 Then the righteous will answer him, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry and we fed you, or thirsty and give you drink? 38 When did we see you a stranger and you have welcomed you, or naked and clothe you? 39 When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you? ". 40 And the king will answer them, "Truly I tell you, whatever you did to the least of these my brethren, you did it to me." 41 Then he will say to those who will be left, 'Depart from me, you cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels; 42 for I was hungry and you gave me no food, I was thirsty and ye gave me drink, 43 I was a stranger and you welcomed me, naked and you clothed me, sick and in prison and you visited me. " 44 Then they will answer, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and not we served you? ". 45 Then he will answer them, 'Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of these little ones, you did it not to me. " 46 And they will go: to eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.

COMMENT of Tommaso Nuovo
Mercy always triumphs over judgment.

We are given to contemplate all the mercy of God in the Last Judgement scene. He not in the act immortalized in the famous fresco by Michelangelo in the Sistine Chapel, where the Christ is at the center of the scene, with his hand raised ready to send to eternal punishment men to his left, but in today's Gospel of the last judgment.

The first consists mercy nell'avvisarci early. This fact is not a trivial matter, is the concern of a Father, the heavenly, for all his children, as would a mom and a pope, that warn their children of the dangers of life. But God does much more, does not claim extraordinary actions, does not want the best, just as well have used love, even for a man not to lose the reward. Jesus does not teach us to do the minimum, but to do it with love, to do for Him. When you come to find out that there is a man behind his person then it triggers a "Storm of Love" and the imitation of Christ .

Also He who judges is the King, sitting on the throne of the cross, he uses here now, the infinite mercy of his heart, by all means save some. We must take advantage of his mercy to transform our hearts. We are so selfish. Only contemplating Jesus and his love for us, which appears around the Gospel, experiencing his mercy, we will change something in us.

We still have to prepare for time, until we have time to present ourselves before the King, the universal Judge, not with empty hands, but accompanied by many brothers and sisters, who can testify that we had for them mercy. In this sense should be interpreted the word: "Mercy always triumphs over judgment" (James 2.1), we mean that we will present on the day of our judgment, because God's mercy we have been used before to judgment discount of sins. Good day.

After the ashes
Luke 5.27- 32

27 After this he went out and saw a tax collector named Levi, sitting at the tax office, and said to him, "Follow me." 28 And he left everything, got up and followed him.
29 Then Levi gave a great banquet in his house. There was a large crowd of tax collectors and others who were with them at the table. 30 The Pharisees and their scribes murmured, saying to his disciples: "Why do you eat and drink with tax collectors and sinners?". 31 Jesus answered them, "It is not the healthy who need a physician, but the sick 32 I I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to convert. "

COMMENT of Tommaso Nuovo
Called and saved.

What do you want to tell us the proclamation of this Gospel during Lent? It simply means that Jesus, as he did with Levi and before that with the other disciples, so also calls us, personally, at this time. We call us occupied in our affairs, in our operations in our duties, in our sins.

Jesus goes and looks. The Gospel says that he saw a tax collector. No! Jesus saw something more, observed throughout the life of this man and calls him to follow his heart. This is one of the first of a long series of calls from men and women that continues today. Levi is just one among the first called, but Jesus wants to be up to each of us, personally.

One may say, but what am I center with Jesus? I am an honest person, I try to behave myself, I have my family, my work. Why should I follow Jesus?
It is said that one should follow Jesus in the way of Levi, to be an apostle and an evangelist. But salvation for each of us consists in being called by Jesus and by the response that we want to give.

Lent is the time when Jesus passes by and calls personally through events, people and words for a project of conversion of our life and salvation. Not unless I become a manager, a teacher or devote myself to a political career. I'm safe if I do I discover the voice of Jesus calling me, and I follow him right into what I do.

Jesus will call all to salvation uses those who respond more generously and totally making them his friends and co-workers, fishers of men. There is no state of life, no age, no human situation that is a hindrance to the call of Jesus. Only lukewarmness of faith can minimize our response, while the total salvation that Christ offers. Good day.

after Ash Wednesday
Mt 9.14 to 15

14 Then came to him the disciples of John, saying, "Why do we and the Pharisees fast often, but your disciples do not fast?". 15 And Jesus said to them, "Can the wedding guests mourn as long as the bridegroom is with them? But the days will come when the bridegroom is taken away from them, and then they will fast.

COMMENT of Tommaso Nuovo
The days of fasting

On this page of the Gospel of Matthew it seems that Jesus does not approve of fasting. In truth, Jesus does not approve a fasting as external practice, that does not bring anything to the Spirit. Second it prophesies the timing of passion when He, the Bridegroom, will be taken away from the bride, Jerusalem. So the disciples will be called to a mourning fasting, because it is not possible to party without the Bridegroom.

Even for us, we made an idol of the food is important to fasting, not only in controlled times of Advent and Lent, but as a penitential exercise one day a week (giving up one or more meals).

Can a fasting that touches our body, have consequences on the spirit, the soul? Fasting serves, if done well, to turn off the hunger, because lowers our desire to fulfill our body, to deal with the most soul.Certainly it should take care that health may not fail, but above all to decrease the hunger of the world, powered by our senses. That's why abstinence from food must be accompanied by a mortification of the senses, especially sight and hearing, in an atmosphere of recollection and silence. In this way, can emerge the hunger for God and the spiritual life, we are more internalized and attentive to the state of our soul, we get to know his weaknesses and his sins and in prayer ask God for the grace of conversion.

The Church on Ash Wednesday prescribes fasting on Good Friday, the Friday of the whole year except holidays instead of the 'abstinence from meat, (See. Code of Canon Law n ° 1249-1253) giving the individual bishops' conferences the possibility of macawsadditional information or to replace fasting with charity and piety. These times are the minimum and not the maximum that a Christian can do for the good of his soul. Good thing is still counsel with a confessor who knows us and also present the difficulties in starting a practice of fasting. The devil is studying all possible means to make us abandon the commitment to fasting and plunge us then in exaggeration and the vices. That's why fasting should be practiced all year round, and finally in Lent stronger and more motivated. It is good to fast with a precise plan and in favor of other persons, it is transformed into pure love in the image of Jesus who suffered for us, leaving us an example (cfr. 1 Pt 2:21).

But more important is the fasting that is done by fasting from sin: the verbal and physical violence, injustice, slander, from selfishness and many other situations of sin. Fasting from food is still important weapon to make sure that the grace of God, the Holy Spirit can then fortify our spirit. It 'always the Holy Spirit working in us our sanctification. We can do that too many penances, but without the Spirit are just cause for spiritual pride. Good day.

ash
Mt 6,1-6.16-18

1 Be careful not to practice your righteousness before men to be seen by them, otherwise there is no reward for you with your Father who is in heaven. 2 So when you give alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, to be praised by people. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. 3 Instead, when you give alms, do not let your left hand know what your right is doing, 4 so that your alms remain in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you.
5 And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites who, in the synagogues and at the street corners, love to pray standing, to be seen by people. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. 6 But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you.
16 And when you fast, do not become gloomy like the hypocrites, who take on an air of defeat for others to see who fast. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. 17 But when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face, 18 because people do not see that you are fasting, but only to your Father, who is unseen; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you.

COMMENT of Tommaso Nuovo
A Holy Lent to benefit all

Today begins Holy Lent in the year 2017. I have to check if there is any authority of the State such as the President of the Republic who has wished Christians "Happy Lent", with a message, as they usually do with the Muslims for their "Ramadan". But this should not be of interest to Christians, receiving good wishes from God Himself through His Divine Word and the voice of Priests Saints who in his name they call God's people to start this Holy Time.

This time is holy because God offers us his grace, his Holy Spirit for our conversion and that of the whole world. Yes! The renewal of the world, aged in sin is in our conversion. As Christ has gone to the world the grace that saves us, so every Christian Passes By the grace that saves the world. The grace and the salvation offered by the Lord Jesus Christ are intended for all, to those who believe and those who do not believe. So a Christian do penance only for himself, but also for those who do not make it. The Christian does not fast only for himself, but also for those who do not fast. A Christian does alms only for himself, but also for those who do not make it. A Christian does not pray only for themselves or for that loves color, but also for those who do not pray and for those who persecute Christians. Here the Church means all the pastors and faithful gathered by Christ, who do penance and that sanctify themselves.

So the fruit of Lent is like a river that is filled with tributaries and with its abundant water irrigates the deserts of the earth is thirsty! Every Christian is like a tributary of grace, provided that purify the waters of his spirit by deadly poisons with the Holy Confession. Even these deadly poisons can get to the river and go to the land.
Then we wonder why there is so much evil in the world. If every Christian does penance and does not sanctify his sin goes to swell the river of evil in the world. If it is sanctified, and turn the grace that receives cleanses the evil of the world. Even if the world hates Christians, Christians are the soul of the world. (Cfr. Letter to Diognetus)

Even a Christian, a child of God who is sanctified, is a grace for a whole city. Therefore we follow carefully the instructions of the Gospel, they do not need much comment but of hearts and minds that put into practice. We just have to work the hard ground of our heart by penance, the rest is done by the Lord. Good Lent.
